The City of Norfolk's Nourish the City Grant offers funding for non-profit or neighborhood organizations working to address food insecurity and expand access to nutritious, affordable food. Mini-Grants ranging from $2,500 - $10,000 are available for eligible projects including, but not limited to, community gardens, co-ops, farmers markets, and food pantries.
Applications for Year 1 grants are now closed. Award notifications and grant agreements have been sent to all applicants.
Year 2 Applications are expected to be released in August 2026.

(Food Pantry Designation) - Expanding pantry services to impact St. Paul’s, Huntersville, Park Place, Berkley, and Ingleside communities.
H.O.P.E. Foundation Inc. - $5,750
(Hot Meals Program Designation) - Supporting Meals on Wheels and expanding outreach through a mobile unit.
(Community Garden Designation) - Growing urban agriculture and food preparedness programming in Berkley to increase access to nutritious produce.
New Calvary Community Development Corporation - $8,500
(Food Distribution Designation) - Funding targeted food distribution programs for homeless and underserved populations in Norfolk.
Ocean View Church, Inc. - $2,000
(Food Pantry Designation) – Enhancing its food pantry by purchasing food and expanding its outdoor garden to grow fresh vegetables.
Primeplus Senior Center - $2,000
(Food Pantry Designation) - Increasing access to fresh fruits and vegetables for weekly curbside pantry and walk-in shopping days.
(Community Garden Designation) - Establishing a community garden to provide supplemental fresh produce for families.
The James E. Newby Jr. M.D. Foundation - $4,000
(Community Garden Designation) - Supporting vertical gardens in select Norfolk Public Schools, community centers, and residential communities.
Virginia Pathways to Justice - $5,200
(Health & Wellness Empowerment Fairs and Food Distribution Designation) - Hosting three events with free produce, healthy cooking demos, health screenings, and community resources.
Young Mens Christian Association (YMCA) of South Hampton Roads - $5,750
(Food Pantry and Education Designation) - Combining direct food access with hands-on nutrition education for local families.
